How to raise a single child’s self-esteem?

Below are some of the few solutions to help raise your single child’s self-esteem :

Dethrone your only : There is an advantage of being a single child because you get a huge self-esteem advantage of being the center of attraction, but this can also work against the child with the risk of acting a bit entitled. So beware of putting your child on center stage.

Compassionate towards others : Since single kids spend most of the time alone and in the company of adults they get brainwashed in to thinking of their self. So find ways of getting the child to start moving out of this self-centered mentality and think of others. Once of the things that you can do to nurture this is to buy her a pet and make her responsible for taking care of it. Help in community activities by participating in church activities, helping neighbors next door, helping paint the homeless shelter etc. This way she would experience the joy of doing for others.
