Yahoo ! has launched the web version of it’s most popular IM for people on the move – Yahoo Web Messenger !   This now totally avoid users from downloading the IM software and installing it before accessing the messenger service.

This service is available from the Yahoo Web Site at http://webmessenger.yahoo.com/ and will be a great boon to people who travel a lot or who live in countries where PC penetration is low, said Yahoo spokeswomen Terrell Karlsten. To run this application on the web you need to have Adobe Flash 9 installed in whichever of the popular browsers you use: Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari.

Inorder to keep the application ‘lite’ Yahoo Web Messenger has given away with advanced features such as Web Cam, File Transfer, share photos, IMvironments, LaunchCast radios, PlugIns, or audibles and Voice communications. But it has some additional features which the desktop lacks like tabbed chat windows and the ability to save conversations on Yahoo Servers, where the subscriber can access them and search their text later.

It also has support for Microsoft’s Live Messenger, so users from each service can engage in IM text chats.
